Hi, I’m Clara Nartey. I’m an artist, and a writer, who makes creativity easily accessible. I write about the practice and science of creativity because I believe creativity is a life skill, not a trait. And it’s how we express who we truly are and find fulfillment.
It took me my entire lifetime to finally accept who I’ve always been – a creative person. I’m very passionate about helping others not wait so long to enjoy the use of their creative skills. I want to help people find meaning in life NOW, being who they’ve always been.
Because I believe…
- You are more creative than you give yourself credit for
- Creativity is a skill that, with the right tools, you can nurture, learn and develop ( and I can show you how)
- Your ideas, creative abilities, and experiences are essential for your personal well-being and vital for making this world a better place
- Every creative should be able to make a living from their work, if they want. You don’t have to starve because you chose to be creative. Your creative choice should not equal a poverty sentence.
Personally, I practice creativity in my daily life and also in my studio as I work to create textile and mixed media artworks. And the science part of it all? Well, I’m fascinated that science can explain creativity – something that comes naturally to humans.
So, I study and learn about the science of creativity to validate the experiences other artists, my readers and I go through on a daily basis. Moreover, I use my creative life to test some of the theories posited by academia on the subject of creativity.
How I Got Here
I came to be intrigued by the subject of creativity when against all odds I became an artist. That’s when I realized that becoming creative is not limited to a special few in our society but rather, it’s possible for all people.
Creativity is not a trait you’re either born with or without. Creativity is a life skill you nurture and grow and everyone can learn to do it.
So, I decided to use my regular studio practice (as the laboratory), and my reading (as the scientific textbook if you may) to help other artists, makers and creators uncover their creative awesomeness.
I like the fact that I’m not sharing information I’ve only read about in scientific journals or books; but that I get to live the information by testing it out for myself and showing you the results in my blog posts.
What I’ll Like to Offer You
I don’t claim to have all the answers and I still have a lot to learn, but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned along the way.
What I do know is, by practicing the art of creativity, I’ve become a more prolific artist. I moved from creating 11 pieces of artwork one year to creating 50 plus pieces the next year. My work was accepted into several juried art shows and I hosted my first solo art show. I won an award for creative work, got invited to curate a regional show, got featured in publications and so much more…
If you’ve ever thought creativity is only for a few elites, or you’ve decided you can’t ever find time in your busy schedule to create the things you want to, or you don’t think you can create something worthwhile, I’ve got news for you. You’re Awesomely Creative!!! You just don’t know it yet. YES, you ABSOLUTELY are. And I can show you.
