Benefits of Coloring

Creative Juice Box Coming Soon

Hey Creative Friend,

In today’s post we’re going to talk about the many benefits of coloring pages. In my last post, I shared with you that I’ll be releasing a new product – an art kit called Creative Juice Box  – which is meant to boost your creativity.

In each juice box, you’ll have:

  • Coloring Page
  • Fabric Collage Project
  • Paper Collage Project

We already discussed the Fabric Collage. Today, I’ll like to share with you some of the benefits of coloring pages and why I included one in my Creative Juice Box.

For the past several years there have been an adult coloring trend. It’s not for nothing that this is so. There are really good reasons for this trend. Let’s take a look at them.

Benefits of Coloring

  1. Channel your inner artist: – for a creative person, coloring is a low pressure way of trying out color schemes, and expressing yourself in a way that has very little risks. The design has already been created for you and all you have to do is to doodle, color, and play with it. If it’s on paper you can crumble it up and throw it into the bin should you decide that you don’t like it.
  2. Relax and Destress: – Coloring pages take your mind away from the activities around you that may be stressing you. They focus your mind on the moment. That is, on your coloring. It’s an activity that helps your mind and body relax. It’s often likened to meditation.
  3. Makes You Feel Good: Neuro chemicals such as serotonin activate positive feelings of wellness and serenity when you’re involved in creative activities such as coloring, says Dr. Carla Marie Manly, Clinical Psychologist, Santa Rosa CA.
  4. Escape From the Screen: Using crayons, coloring pens and pencils is a wonderful way to step away from the constant glare of the screen, take a break from electronics, and engage different aspects of your brain.

Features of the Creative Juice Box

So, based on all these benefits of coloring, I designed the Creative Juice Box coloring page to have a good mix of detail shapes and patterns that will require focus and large shapes which do not require much focus to give you just what you need to find it relaxing.

Also, since the coloring page in this kit is downloadable, it means you can color it on a digital device if you want to. The cool thing about digital coloring is that you’ll have an unlimited number of colors available to you and also, you can color the same design more than once.

Finally, you don’t have to worry about your colors bleeding through to the next page like it does in some coloring books. With the Creative Juice box, you get to print your coloring on good quality one-sided paper that you choose yourself.

Creative Friend, I hope I’ve convinced you to try the coloring page in the Creative Juice box. I’ve colored this page a couple of times myself and I enjoyed doing so. My daughter also enjoyed coloring her page. I was totally surprised how different hers was from mine.

I said it in the last blog post that, more than anything, I really can’t wait to see what you’ll create with the Creative Juice Box when you receive your copy. That’s what I’m anxiously waiting to see. How far will each person will take their design? Contemplating that prospect is so exciting to me. I know it sounds crazy.  However, I also know that there’s so much collective creativity in all of you and I’m so itching to see it explode through these art kits.

I can’t wait to see your coloring pages. I absolutely can’t wait to see your fabric and paper collages. When you create them, please share them with me on social media using the hashtag #CreatewithClara and #CreativeJuiceBox.

Love always,

Well you know I love coloring – so much I had to create the Brilliant Brain Coloring Book 🙂 (available on Amazon or my website) but I love the idea of digital pages so that folks can color them on the ipad or other device. I better get busy with the digital version I think! – Laura

I enjoy coloring and find it to be relaxing. I sometimes feel a little guilty about coloring. I start thinking that I should be doing something more “productive.” Maybe I will try it again. 💜

Mary Ann, resting is just as important as working. Sometimes what we need for us to relax, recharge and get ready for the next job is something calming like coloring. So, don’t feel guilty when you relax with a good coloring page.

I guess for me, creativity comes with a bit of stress. I want to learn to play more and stress less! I have dabbled in coloring. The pages were so detailed that I lost interest after a bit. And, being the utilitarian type, I wondered what would I do with the “finished product”? With the kits, my hope is to use the coloring pages as my way to experiment before committing to the next BIG step – for me – fabric collage! So, I’m hopeful that the kits and included coloring pages will help me break that cycle and learn to take a deep breath and relax. As you said, If I don’t like it, I can crumble up the paper and try again. But, I am also intrigued about digital coloring and how might I do that with the coloring pages in the kits. Could you possibly do a blog post or direct me to one that’s out there? I’m super excited about the kits and will focus on FUN! 🙂

Kim, that’s a great suggestion to do a post on digital coloring. I’ll put it on my list of future blog posts. I know you’re going to like this kit. Try it and let me know what you think
