Sketchbook

I started a sketchbook practice a couple of years ago and I’ve never looked back. Because of the progress I saw develop in my work, I’ve tried to keep up the practice as much as possible.

Sketching is the most direct and personal reflection of the creative. Most often when artists suffer a creative block, it is because they have stopped sketching. ~ Dmitri Wright, painter

Here are videos of me speed drawing in my sketchbook.

And below are some of the pages out of my sketchbooks.  I’ve got a lot of sketchbooks. I put them in my purses, pocketbooks, in my car,  yet I still don’t always have one on hand when I want to sketch.  So sometimes I’ll sketch on loose papers, ruled sheets, printer paper, napkins, just about anything. Believe it or not, I even doodle on fabric with pens and markers.

I do a lot of continuous line drawings to practice how to draw with my sewing machine in my sketchbook.
